Other noteworthy guesses posited that it was an early model T Roomba which could, in a pinch, scrape dead skin from your feet or double as a desk bell. That, or a mid-20th century vibrator.
Just want everyone to know that I am the one that said it was a “model T Roomba” despite knowing it actually was a scale. This is typical though, always the “honorable mention” never the winner, all ways the bridesmaid never the bride. (I’ve never been a braidsmaid.)
