So last night I started reading this book on Columbine called Columbine and so far it’s a pretty good read. It takes out all the sensationalism that has become that event and boils it down to the real people that were there and not just some arch type characters. It goes into detail of what the killers lives also the lives of some of the students and teachers that were murdered. So I find myself reading this thing, the disturbing facts of what these two kids did the day of as they were getting ready for their attack and at one small paragraph I felt my face grimace at the words on the page. It described how they got up at 6 and went to the store to buy some last of their supplies. At 6 am. They started at 6 and then ran around doing this stuff scratching off things on their scheduled that included ” chill” time. CHILL time. They wrote “chill”. Then the final note of this morning that again started at 6am! What?? During their “chill” time before committing horrible murders they had something to eat. One ate potato skins. It was like 10 am and this kid was eating potato skins?? That was the thing that really made my face wrench in disgust. Potato skins at 10 am. Ugh my lip just curled when writing it.
And now that I think about it I dont know why it’s so off putting to me. I mean hash browns and home fries also potatoes and fine at 10 am.If they were stuff skins then maybe had bacon and cheese also common at breakfast. I dont know it’s stil just wrong. Potato skins should be eaten in the evening. But I dont know I guess thats just what was wrong with these kids, they didnt care. I havent finished the book yet but I’m sure thats’s how it ends.
