The first month of this challenge to myself is complete. I’m still in the honeymoon phase of this thing where I have liked everything I have listened to and I have listened to almost all of the records more than once. I havent really let myself go off and listen to some daring things that I might be apprehensive about and might not like at all. I’ve been playing it safe. THis week is a good example of how I have been going about picking records. There are things like “Stands For Decibels” which I’ve wanted to listen to before but could never find or just forgot about and slipped through the cracks. There are the newer releases that have had some buzz like Real Estate. And then there are the more known records that have a history and maybe when I was first introduced to them they were for me so I never listened but now I am taking the chance to look back and see what that was all about like with ” The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill”. And with records like that I have liked so far and now understand why they are loved by some. So maybe soon I will try throwing myself some curve balls and try listening to things I might not walk away from feeling so positive about. but I will try to!
